Program Monitoring Summary
: Program monitoring is an important management tool. For Safety Counts, it is critical that accurate information be collected regarding the program's ability to meet its objectives to reduce HIV and viral hepatitis risk behaviors. The Program Monitoring Summary form provides a convenient means of summarizing much of the process data that agencies will need for monitoring and evaluating your Safety Counts program. Please feel to add more information to this summary, such as demographic data about participants. Please use this summary as a starting point to create a form that best meets the particular needs of your agency.
Sample Process Monitoring & Evaluation Plan
Guidelines for Adapting Safety Counts
: The Guidelines for Adapting
Safety Counts
describes the general tasks and step-by-step procedures that must be carried out by CBOs, with assistance from CBA providers, in order to adapt
Safety Counts
for use with specific subpopulations of drug users intended to be targeted separately by the intervention. This document is an excerpt from the
Safety Counts
Program Manual.
Safety Counts Risk Reduction Interview
: The new
Safety Counts
Risk Reduction Interview replaces the Risk Reduction Checklist. The document is also available in Spanish.
Click here to view the Safety Counts Risk Reduction Interview in Spanish.
If you have already administered the Checklist with a
Safety Counts
client, then continue to use the Checklist with that client at the second administration of the Checklist when the client completes the
Safety Counts
program. However, for all new clients, use the Risk Reduction Interview during the Program Enrollment Session and again four months following enrollment, after participants have completed all program sessions and activities. If you have further questions regarding this new Risk Reduction Interview, please contact your CBA provider.
The interview is a means for rapidly assessing the current status of intervention participants’ adoption of behavioral strategies to reduce the risk of acquiring or transmitting HIV and viral hepatitis. Seven sexual risk reduction behaviors, six drug-related risk reduction behaviors, and two counseling and testing behaviors are included in the interview. These behaviors are consistent with the individualized risk reduction goals set by participants during Group Session Two and the Individual Counseling Session. The Risk Reduction Interview usually takes around 15 minutes to complete.
Safety Counts Logic Model
Safety Counts Agency Self-Assessment Readiness Tool
: is a brief self-assessment intended to assist agencies (e.g., CBOs) to determine if they currently possess the capacity, or can build the capacity, to adopt and implement
Safety Counts.
Estimating Safety Counts Costs
Safety Counts Fidelity Checklist
: is a brief self-assessment tool intended to diagnose if Safety Counts personnel are implementing the Safety Counts intervention activities with fidelity to the core elements.
